Greg Trump serves as Director of Planning at Balefire, overseeing the creation and review of each client’s Discovery and Strategic Design recommendations to ensure every plan is accurate, thoughtful, and clearly presented. He works closely with financial advisors, trust and tax professionals, attorneys, and CPAs to refine planning strategies and deliver coordinated advice, and he participates directly in client meetings, helping families understand complex planning concepts so they can make decisions with confidence.
Greg has spent 25 years working with individuals, families, business owners, charities, and their advisors to develop sophisticated planning strategies, combining technical expertise with a collaborative approach to help clients navigate complex financial decisions. Earlier in his career, he helped develop proprietary estate planning software used by advisors across the country, an experience that gave him a rare perspective on both the technical mechanics and the practical realities of advanced planning. Greg holds the CFP certification and focuses his work today on estate planning, business owner planning, charitable planning, and wealth transfer strategies.
Within Balefire, colleagues rely on Greg for technical guidance and quality review on complex planning strategies. He reviews planning recommendations to identify opportunities for improvement, making sure each one is technically sound and clearly communicated. Advisors and clients frequently turn to him to explain how sophisticated estate planning techniques and trust structures work, so everyone involved understands not just the strategy itself but its intended outcome.
Greg specializes in estate planning, business owner planning, and charitable planning, and he particularly enjoys helping clients work through complex situations involving wealth transfer, business succession, tax-efficient giving, and multi-generational planning. He measures great financial planning by the confidence it gives clients to make decisions and take action. The best planning uncovers blind spots in a client’s current strategy, surfaces opportunities they may not have known existed, and clarifies the trade-offs behind major decisions, ultimately giving clients the clarity and confidence they need to pursue their family’s goals.
Greg lives in Carmel, Indiana, with his four school-aged children. He enjoys fishing, hiking, and volunteering at church.
