Biography

Brandon Hooth brings an educator’s perspective to his role as a Coordinating Advisor at Balefire. Working closely with clients and advisors, he helps keep financial planning and investment work moving forward by coordinating active cases, identifying outstanding information, resolving workflow issues, and making sure the right people are involved at the right time.

Before entering financial services, Brandon spent nearly 15 years teaching math and history while coaching a variety of sports. He continues to coach football today. A longtime interest in investing eventually led him to financial services, where he discovered a natural connection between teaching and advising. Brandon has passed the Series 65 exam and also holds Life and Health Insurance licenses.

His background in education continues to shape how he approaches financial decisions. Brandon believes clients should understand not only what is being recommended, but also the reasoning behind it. Rather than asking someone to simply accept a course of action, he works to give clients enough context to participate meaningfully in the process and understand how individual choices connect to their goals.

Within Balefire, Brandon is known for being organized, proactive, and responsive. He regularly reviews reports and workflows for missing information, stalled cases, or unresolved tasks, then coordinates with advisors to determine what needs to happen next. He also meets with advisors weekly to discuss active cases and supports the investment team with portfolio rebalancing requests.

As a Coordinating Advisor, Brandon helps connect people, information, and next steps across Balefire’s team-based model. Brandon works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations, including hospitals, and aims to serve as a dependable point of contact when questions arise. Even when the answer requires another specialist, he takes responsibility for finding the appropriate resource and following the issue through rather than leaving the client to determine where to go next.

Brandon lives in Watertown, South Dakota, with his wife and three kids. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching football, playing and listening to music, and spending quality time with his family.
